At the wheel

Learn to throw pottery.

I signed up for a few pottery classes on my mom's suggestion and never stopped. I teach beginner and intermediate classes now to hand that same thing to somebody else.

I enjoy introducing people to the wheel and clay, and I love seeing people's reactions to their own handmade pottery.

How it works

Three steps, and one of them is waiting.

01

You sit down at the wheel

No experience assumed and nothing to bring. I start everyone the same way I started — centering a lump of clay, badly, until it goes right.

02

You throw something real

Beginner classes work toward a piece you take home. Intermediate classes push into form, trimming, and handles.

03

I fire and glaze it

Pottery cannot be rushed. Your piece is dried, bisque fired, glazed, and fired again before it comes back to you.

Dates, class size, and pricing

Classes run in small groups and the schedule changes with the seasons and the farm. Message me and I'll tell you what's coming up, what it costs, and whether there's a seat left.

I answer my own messages. Custom work takes about eight weeks from first conversation to finished piece — so the earlier the better for gifts.
